Football Federation of Croatia held a second regional meeting in Opatija today for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia and Croatia's representatives who discussed their common topics. The most important issue was the safety and security at the football competitions; followed by social dialogue between football federations, clubs and players; mediators' new role in the talks between clubs and players; regional competitions and current situation at FIFA/UEFA levels.
Representatives were very concerned about the security situation at their respective stadiums, an issue UEFA's Stadium and Security director Marc Timmer is familiar with. The common opinion is that without an efficient and integrated state activities, football organizations by themselves won't be able to solve this problem which affects players, their teams and staff and most of the supporters. UEFA should continuously encourage state authorities to seriously approach this severe problem. Failing to deal with it will have extensive consequences for both clubs and national teams.
Atendees exchanged info on professional players' status and reached the conclusion that national legislations need to take specificities and differences in their employment status into account, including financial compensations. Mediators and agents' statuses should be regulated according to FIFA rules.
Regional football competitions will be discussed at the upcoming meeting for presidents and general secretaries, so it wasn't discussed in detail now.
At the end, representatives talked about ongoing situation in FIFA and UEFA and they agreed on taking common positions regarding their federations' most important issues and actions. They will also continue with and improve mutual cooperation as well as exchanging experiences and staff.
Next meeting will take place in Sarajevo in November with FFBIH as a host.
