The result after 80 minutes of the game was 1:1, but according to the rules of the UEFA Development Tournament, there were the penalty kicks, where the players of Croatia got better and won 2 points, while the selected players of Sakib Malkočević got one.
The BH team had a good chance in the 26th minute. Hamza Gasal made the corner kick, and Elvedin Kečanović was the highest in jump and sent a ball by his head beside the goal.
A minute later, BH comes to an advantage. Sergej Vitonji goes on the right and helps Ajdin Jusupović, who hits the Croatia’s net for 1:0.
Croatia equals the score in the 46th minute through Jakov Brekal who sends a ball with a lob shot behind the back of Nikola Ćetković. By the end of the match, Croatia had a field initiative, but the result was not changed.
After the match, the head coach of the BH team, Sakib Malkočević, stated:
“We timidly started the match with too much respect toward the team of Croatia that is of a high quality. After ten minutes, things were settled right; we played well and got to the advantage. In the second half, due to the competition system, we had to make too many changes, which had a negative impact on the game of our team, so Croatia had a better ball possession. At the end, the draw is realistic, and given that this is the first match of this generation, we can be satisfied. There is certainly still room for improvement and necessary correction of mistakes, but this was not bad for the beginning.”
This morning, Macedonia beat Azerbaijan with 2:0 with goals scored by Azer Omeragić in the 19th minute and Fisnik Saliu in the 80th minute.
The second round is scheduled for Friday, 13th April, at the FF BH Training Centre, when Macedonia-BH (10:30 h) and Croatia-Azerbaijan (14:00 h) will play their matches.
