First of all, thank you for supporting the competition, which is important for our country, as an ambassador. What is the role of the WU17 EURO ambassador for you personally?
“Everything related to my country is a great honour for me and I am proud of it, especially because I built my career first in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and later in Europe. The title of ambassador means a lot to me, because it does not happen often that we have a big competition in our country and I really hope that Bosnia and Herzegovina will soon have the opportunity to develop infrastructure, because by improving conditions we would have better football quality.”
How important is the organization of such a competition for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the BH FF?
“As I said, this is an opportunity to show UEFA that we can organize one big event. I believe that everything will go well and that the girls who participate in the tournament, but also everyone who comes to the stadiums, will enjoy the organization, our hospitality and in the end the matches themselves. I really wish all the teams good luck.”
As a participant in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, what is your message for the youth BH female players who will perform in the big competition this May?
“You live and play football for moments like this. Let them be happy and proud to have the opportunity to play in one European Championship, let them do their best on the pitch and enjoy every moment of the tournament.”
Edin Džeko also has a message for the fans:
“It would be nice if the fans filled the stands, because it would mean a lot to the girls and I believe they would provide even better games. I hope that, because of the young players who need support from the stands, our fans will be at all the matches, because I believe they can enjoy the games and quality football.”
