BH FF President Vico Zeljković watched the final match in the company of Anne Rei, Chairwoman of the UEFA Women’s Football Committee. The match was also attended by the head coach of the “A” national team, Ivaylo Petev.
The Germans had the first chance in the match in the 9th minute. Mara Alber escaped the attention of the Spanish defence, passed on the right side and added to Alara Sehitler, but her shot was stopped by a crossbar. Just two minutes later, Mara Alber missed a one hundred percent chance. She managed to bypass the goalkeeper, but missed an empty goal. Germany crowned the field initiative in the 15th minute. Svea Stoldt “ran onto” one bounced ball from the penalty area and sent it to the upper left corner of Spain’s goal by a strong kick from 16-17 meters for a 1:0 lead of Germany. After conceding a goal, Spain shifted the focus of the game to half of Germany, which was paid off in the 28th minute of the match. Victoria Lopez made the fee-kick from the left side, and the captain Martina Artero headed the ball beneath the crossbar. In the 32nd minute, Victoria Lopez also tried her shot, but the goalkeeper Eve Boettcher was in the right place.
Spain opened the second half better. Victoria Lopez got rid of her guard with an attractive dribbling, made a free space, but her shot was stopped by Eve Boettcher. In the 63rd minute, Spain reversed the result. Marina Artero sent a long ball from the centre into the penalty area of Germany, the goalkeeper misjudged the flight of the ball, and Carla Camacho headed the ball from 15 meters into the undefended net. In the 70th minute, Spain was able to resolve the issue of the winner. Lucia Corrales appeared alone in front of the goalkeeper, but she shot next to the goal. When it seemed that the match would end with the victory of Spain, two minutes before the end, Mara Alber scored a fantastic goal from the edge of the penalty area, hitting the opposite corner. In the 90th+3 minute, Victoria Lopez tried to lob the goalkeeper from 16 meters, but Boettcher with the utmost effort passed the ball over the bar. The same player had a great opportunity just a few seconds before the last whistle, but her shot from 7-8 meters went next to the goal.
In the penalty-kick series, goalkeeper Eva Boettcher grew into the hero of her national team, as she defended even penalty kicks of the opponents and brought her national team the 8th European title.
Cups and medals were presented to the finalists by the UEFA Women’s Football Committee Chairwoman Anna Rei, the BH FF President Vico Zeljkovic, German Football Association Sports Director Panagiotis Chatzialexiou and Spanish Football Association Vice-President Rafael del Amo.
