Presenting host cities: Mostar

The City of Mostar is the cultural, political, and economic center of Herzegovina and the administrative center of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton / County. The city is located on the Neretva River, and according to the latest census from 2013, it has about 105,000 inhabitants, including suburbs.

Mostar is only 60 kilometers far from the Adriatic Sea and it has a very pleasant Mediterranean climate throughout the year.

It is known for the famous "Old Bridge", which was built in the 16th century and rebuilt in 2004, after it was destroyed in the 1993 war.

However, what makes this city special is its diversity, so walking through the streets of Mostar you can see the remains of different civilizations and eras, which have forever remained woven into the history of this city and make it special on the tourist map of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Two clubs from Mostar, FK "Velež" and HŠK "Zrinjski", play in the m:tel Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The matches of the Women’s U-17 European Championship will be played at the HŠK "Zrinjski" Stadium. FK "Velež" achieved the greatest success in its history in the seasons 1980/1981 and 1985/1986, when they won the Yugoslav Cup.

On the other hand, HŠK "Zrinjski" is the most successful club in the history of the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with six titles won and one Cup of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Numerous football aces have grown up in the "city on the Neretva", and we will single out Dušan Bajević, Franjo Vladić, Blaž Slišković, Enver Marić, Ivan Ćurković, Enver Hadžiabdić ... For a while, Luka Modrić, later the best football player on the planet, also played for HŠK "Zrinjski".
