It's been over a month since he was elected as national football team coach, and now Mehmed Bazdarevic discussed how he spent his first working month: "Time went by really fast, I've done all I planned, I visited many players and watched many football tapes. I traveled a lot - Italy, England, Belgium, France, not counting these trips to Sarajevo. It was a dynamic month, and I hope it goes on like that. I'm glad I had the chance to talk to some of the players before prep season."

Players had positive reactions to his visits: "Players usually need some time to adapt to new coach. They know who I am, how I work and how I live. I think those were sincere conversations, they are good boys and good football players who are aware of our situation. Qualifying matches were below their level, however now we have to bring back the peace and trust in our team."

He continues with his expectations regarding the players: "I expect them to play good, to go back in shape, and those who were injured to get well soon. Psychological preparation is also improtant. We have to exchange informations between us, and if some of them should have any problems, I expect them to talk to me and with my staff. They expect a lot of me, and vice versa."

Bazdarevic says he prefers friendly relation between players and coaches, but they have to know who pulls the strings: "It has to be like that, no other way. There has to be a certain distance, but I'd like to step out of cliche and pass some of that energy I've been living with for the past 30 or so years. If I succeed in that, I hope I'll gain their confidence and even friendship. I want to know how they feel, what they do, how their families are and so on, because I think that's important in this line of work.

Working in the office is not something coach Bazdarevic is looking forward to, but that's all part of this job: "There's a lof of meetings, talks, interviews, but I had the chance to observe some of the local training sessions in Zeljeznicar, Sarajevo, Olimpic. I miss working on the grass, but that will come soon. I've watched all qualifying matches, and I constantly keep an eye on my players' shape. However, I'm most comfortable on the pitch."
