Bosnia and Herzegovina national cadet football team finished with the winter training camp in Citluk today. In four days, coach Sakib Malkocevic and his coaching staff staged four training sessions and two exhibition games.
Malkocevic: "The weather served us well, and the training grounds were nice. Guys are aware there are demanding qualifications ahead and they've worked really hard. There were some new players, and at least three of them showed us they can be seriously considered in the future.
Before the Elite Round, we'll have several friendlies which we're going to use to come up with the best 18 players. We're already following our opponents. From what we've seen, England has a really strong team and they will probably be favorites in the group, while Slovenia, Czech Republic and us will compete for second place. It will be difficult but we'll try to repeat the success of previous generation."
After the Olympic Committee awarded the U-17 team which participated in the European Championship last year, the Sports Association of BiH declared our cadet team as the best national team in the country. Malkocevic's thoughts about these awards: "I'm glad that our work was recognized and it says a lot about the success of youth football in Bosnia. Players, coaching staff and everyone who was involved with our team deserve this recognition. However, boys who qualified for the European Championship and competed in Azerbaijan carried out most of the burden. I'd like to thank you, the Olympic Committee, and Sports Association for this recognition."
