BIH's U-17 team has finished the preparations in Citluk. Coach Malkocevic prepared the team for the Elite round next month in Scotland.
Are you satisfied with team's engagement this time?
We were fortunate to have good weather back us up. We did what we planned to do, with focus on tactics. It's too bad we couldn't gather sooner, but we work pretty well, and if it weren't for few injuries, I'd be completely satisfied.
Regarding Elite qualifying round – what can we expect from Scotland, Romania and Belgium?
Scotland's style doesn't suit us, they are physically strong. It will be a hard match. Romanians play very hard and with discipline, and they showed their quality by finishing the qualifications with no against goals. I think Belgium has the best team, and their youth football is rapidly expanding.
What can we expect to achieve?
We did good just by advancing to the Elite round, and it's practically European championship for us. This generation has won two tournaments and in fifteen matches, we lost only once to Portugal, so we have every right to hope for the best. Many consider us to be outsiders which can work to our advantage.
Can we expect someone new to show up in qualifications, someone who wasn't here in Citluk?
These boys have a continous career since U-15, so our primary team will be consisted of those who played in qualifications. There isn't much time to make any adjustments, but should someone new with quality and skill show up in the meantime, we'll take him to Scotland with us.
What benefits FFBIH's „open doors“ project will bring to youth teams?
It was very good initiative. That project will come to be even more important in the future. Abroad players show their will to play for our team, but our team should always be primary, not a secondary option to them.
