After the last year session of the General Assembly, UEFA representatives presented this project for the first time and named Darko Ljubojević as its leader; so the practical implementation started in March.
Ljubojević exposes more details about that:
“Within this program, we have already organized four camps in four regions in BH, which practically covered the whole country. We tested over a hundred boys born in 2002 and about 100 of them born in 2003.
I can freely say that we entered every city, village, area to find the most talented players. We worked with them by applying new training processes, in order to create a base of quality players. This approach will be used primarily by the players themselves, then by the clubs, and finally by the team selections, as we will get players who acquired the necessary knowledge in their youngest age, which will be later upgraded.
We in FF BH have not been doing so early on selecting the boys. I think that is important, because it gives the head coaches the opportunity to get to know the players as soon as possible and to follow their further development path. We are preparing them for what they will be faced with in the U-17 and U-19 competition, and later in the senior football.”
Darko Ljubojević continues: “This whole project showed that there are young and talented players in BH. There is a certain difference, which was expected, in the work with younger categories in the best Premier League clubs, compared to the rest. By this kind of work we tried to reduce this difference, allowing young players to train according to the same program. This has already given some effects, as players from smaller clubs and regions, thanks to their presentation and performance in the camp, have already got the opportunity to go to a bigger and better organized club, where they have more room for improvement. These are just some short-term effects, and I'm sure that the long-term ones will come later.”
The program of the camp was presented by Murat Jaha:
“In addition to the training process carried out in accordance with the UEFA instructions, the camp has an educational character too. So, for all participants, we organize lectures on the code of conduct, the integrity of the game, information literacy, etc.
Our work was recognized by UEFA, so now we can say that we will continue this project in the following year.
As Darko has already explained, this is the final camp for the mentioned ages, which will bring together 25 young players who showed the most at the previous gatherings. In these three days, which we will have at our disposal, we will perform once again all the tests, in addition to technical-tactical work, and summarize everything we did during these camps.
The final report will be delivered to the leadership of the Federation, as well as to UEFA, whose representative, Eric Deletang, in charge of monitoring and implementing the project, will also attend the final camp in Zenica.”
