Bosnia and Herzegovina’s head coach, Sergej Barbarez, shared his thoughts on the match against the Netherlands: “It wasn’t an easy game. We faced a team that’s arguably one of the best in the world. I think the guys tried everything. Initially, we struggled by standing too far from the players, and couldn't make contact to play more aggressively. We changed the system a few times to address that. In the second half, we improved, but unfortunately, we conceded goals in stoppage time due to our own mistakes. If we can minimize those tactical errors, we can move forward. Everyone was battling with themselves in some way, and there was respect for the opponent. We'll focus on the positives from this match; we showed a good side up front. Scoring two goals against such a team away is no small feat. Also, we introduced some new faces; we're following our own path."
Edin Džeko, in excellent early-season form, earned his 66th cap for Bosnia and Herzegovina: "I think the 5:2 scoreline is a too much, but I can’t deny it’s deserved since they had several other chances. However, the goals they scored were a result of our mistakes and lost balls, and that usually gets punished at this level. If we can learn something from these errors, we'll be on the right track."
Ermedin Demirović, who scored his second goal in the national team jersey, said: "Regrettably, two goals weren't enough for a better outcome. I'm proud of the team and I think we all gave our best. We had good moments, but also bad ones. There are a lot of young players, and it takes time for everything to fit, but I think we're on the right track. We have a good generation, Esmir played a fantastic and courageous match. There's not much time to rest because Hungary awaits us. If we play there like we did for about 60-70 minutes today, we stand a good chance of taking one or three points."
