Romania had the first serious chance in 14', when Valentin Mihăilă broke through one-on-one with Nikola Vasilj, but our keeper reacted brilliantly and kept the net intact. Our team responded in 20'. Esmir Bajraktarević broke down the right and delivered a good cross, and Samed Baždar headed from just five meters out, but the ball went over the bar. In 31', another test for Vasilj - a powerful strike from Dennis Man from 18 meters - but our keeper handled it confidently. Four minutes later, Amar Memić intercepted a pass from Romania’s defense and tried a precise shot from around 20 meters, narrowly missing the right post. In 43', Romania’s counterattack ended with Man firing over the bar. A minute later, Benjamin Tahirović tried his luck from outside the box, but Ionut Radu was well positioned. The final chance of the half came in 45+2', when Tahirović hit the crossbar from a free kick over 20 meters out.
Just four minutes into the second half, the Dragons equalized. Amar Memić crossed from the right, and captain Edin Džeko found space in the box to score his 72nd goal for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In 68', Romania were reduced to ten men. Denis Dragus recklessly kicked Nikola Katić in the head, and referee Michael Oliver showed him a straight red card - just three minutes after he’d come on.
In 77', Kerim Alajbegović took a free kick from the left, but Haris Tabaković was just late arriving for the cross. Two minutes later, the Dragons completed the comeback.
