The standout player in the first 45 minutes was our goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj, who saved his team with four excellent interventions. The first serious chance came in the 17th minute when Dominik Szoboszlai’s corner kick found Bendeguz Bolle, whose header was saved by Vasilj. Seven minutes later, Vasilj again made a great save against Barnabas Varga’s header. In the 33rd minute, he denied Varga once more, and five minutes later, he stopped a shot from Zsolt Nagy from 16 meters. Our team also had some opportunities from counterattacks but lacked concentration in the final moments to pose a serious threat to Hungary's goal.
The first chance in the second half fell to Edin Džeko, who managed to shoot from a tight space, but Hungary’s goalkeeper was in the right place. Three minutes later, Ermin Bičakčić had a chance, but Dibusz saved his shot. In the 71st minute, Dominik Szoboszlai hit the crossbar from a free kick. Vasilj made another great save in the 89th minute, stopping Martin Adam’s header from close range.
In the other match of this group, the Netherlands and Germany played to a 2:2 draw. After two rounds, Germany and the Netherlands top the group with 4 points each, while BiH and Hungary have one point each.
The Nations League continues in October, with our national team hosting Germany in Zenica on October 11 at 20:45, and Hungary on October 14 also at 20:45.
