BiH took the lead in the 14th minute following a well-executed play. Edin Džeko set up Sead Kolašinac, who delivered a precise cross to Armin Gigović at the far post. Gigović, left unmarked, scored the goal effortlessly to make it 1:0.
Romania had several opportunities to equalize. In the 26th minute, Denis Drăguș made a close-range shot that narrowly missed the target. Five minutes later, Drăguș attempted a header from the edge of the box, but it sailed over the bar. In stoppage time of the first half, Drăguș had another golden opportunity, heading the ball wide from just a few meters out.
The home side continued to push in the second half. In the 46th minute, Razvan Marin unleashed a powerful shot, but Nikola Vasilj made a brilliant save. Eleven minutes later, Vasilj denied Drăguș again, stopping a close-range effort on the goal line. Later in the match, Nicolae Stanciu tested Vasilj with a shot from outside the box, but our goalkeeper remained unwavering.
In the seventh minute of stoppage time, Samed Baždar had a chance to seal the win for Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, his chip over the goalkeeper went just over the crossbar.
Meanwhile, in the other Group H match, Cyprus defeated San Marino 2:0 via Ioannis Pittas and Andronikos Kakoullis.
