Before the game, a special ceremony took place: a heartfelt farewell to Miralem Pjanić from the national team jersey. Pjanić had 115 appearances, and the Federation presented him with a symbolic gift in appreciation.
On the pitch, Bosnia and Herzegovina dominated from the start. The first half saw Samed Baždar with multiple chances in the 16', 20', and 34', while Arjan Malić made a great block on Nicola Nanni’s attempt late in the half.
In the second half, Baždar struck the ball from 16 meters in the 56', but goalkeeper Edoardo Colombo made the save. The key moment came in the 66': just six minutes after coming on, Edin Džeko scored the winning goal, assisted by Amar Dedić.
Bosnia and Herzegovina now leads Group H with 9 points from three matches. Romania and Cyprus follow with 3 points each (with a game in hand), while Austria and San Marino remain at 0 points (Austria has yet to play a qualifier). Austria will face Romania tonight at 20:45.
Our team is free next round (June 10), and instead will play a friendly game against Slovenia in Celje at 18:00.
