The first half began with a chance for our team in the 3'. Following a free kick and a layoff from Nikola Katić, Amar Memić shot from around 11 meters, but the ball went over the goal. Canada responded in the 17' and had a great opportunity to take the lead. After a cross from the right and a clearance by our defense, the ball fell to Jonathan David, but Nikola Vasilj made an excellent save to stop his effort from around ten meters. The Dragons took the lead in the 21'. Following a corner from the right, Sead Kolašinac headed the ball on from the near post to Jovo Lukić, who found the net with a precise finish for 1:0. In the 32', Canada threatened again through Tani Oluwaseyi, who got away from his marker but kicked wide from a promising position. Bosnia and Herzegovina went into halftime holding a narrow advantage.
The second half brought plenty of excitement and several major chances at both ends. In the 53', Canada made a fine move that left Laryea alone in front of goal, and he managed to beat Nikola Vasilj, but Sead Kolašinac, with the help of the crossbar, cleared the ball off the goal line and prevented a certain goal. Just a minute later, Bosnia and Herzegovina could've doubled its lead. Ermedin Demirović broke through one-on-one with Canada's goalkeeper, but the home team's keeper managed to stop his attempt. In the 67', Canada had another great chance. Following a header from Oluwaseyi, the ball had already beaten Vasilj, but Nikola Katić reacted brilliantly on the goal line to prevent the equalizer. However, in the 78', Canada found the net. Cyle Larin created space for a shot from around 16 meters and beat Nikola Vasilj with a precise effort inside the left post to make it 1:1.
In the second round, Bosnia and Herzegovina will face Switzerland in Los Angeles on June 18 at 21:00 CET.
