The head coach of the “A” Bosnia and Herzegovina national team announced today, in the premises of the BH FF in Sarajevo, the list of 23 players for the qualifying matches for EURO 2024 with Portugal and Luxembourg.
Hadžibegić also included 10 players on the extended list that he counts on in case of injuries.
“I announced earlier that I wanted to expand the list, because there were no friendlies where we could check more players. It’s easier to work when the roster is bigger. We have several injured players, and we sent ten more invitations to players who would step in in case of injuries”, said the head coach.
The broader list includes: Haris Duljević (FC Hansa Rostock), Sanjin Prcić (RC Strasbourg), Vladan Danilović (CD Nacional), Jasmin Mešanović (Kisvarda FC), Said Hamulić (FC Toulouse), Armin Hodžić (FK Željezničar), Osman Hadžikić (FK Velež), Josip Ćorluka (HŠK Zrinjski), Hrvoje Barišić (HŠK Zrinjski), Elvir Duraković (FK Igman Konjic).
Adrian Leon Barišić and Dal Varešanović received invitations for the first time:
“Hadžikadunić was injured, and I was watching Barišić and saw that he suited us in terms of qualities, so I decided on him. When it comes to Dal Varešanović, I said that no national team exists without domestic players, from the domestic league. He played an excellent half-season and deserved the invitation”, says Hadžibegić.
Among other things, the head coach referred to the following opponents:
“Portugal is a quality team that has been at the top of world football for a long time and they are the favourite in the group. I am worried about what will happen to Luxembourg. When I led Montenegro from the bench, we had a very difficult match with them in which we managed to win. My obsession is to win the maximum number of points. I want us to be first, but we have very good opponents and every point is welcome. We also have our own qualities and we need to arrange things well, in order to achieve the desired results.”
The national team will gather on 7th June at the BH FF Training Centre in Zenica.
