Petev about the list of the BH “A” national team

After announcing the list of candidates for the March matches of the “A” national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina yesterday, the head coach Ivaylo Petev answered the questions of the journalists today via the official FF BH YouTube channel.

In the introduction, Petev congratulated the BH futsal national team on qualifying for the European Championship.

When asked which formation will suit the BH national team the best, the head coach said:

“Given that we have very little time for preparations, it is difficult to change the game system in such a short period of time. It is important for us to have unity between the players, and it would be too risky to make some big changes immediately.”

Journalists were interested in why Asmir Begović was not on the list.

“We have a lot of players on the wider list who have not been invited now, but we are counting on them. I think that the players who were invited at this moment can best answer the task, and we have not removed anyone from the list and we still have candidates for the “A” team”, said Ivaylo Petev.

The head coach added that Toni Šunjić could not get an invitation due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic measures, which would significantly hinder his return to China, and that he did not invite some players who could be useful to the U-21 team, while in “A” the team would not be in the starting line-up.

One of the questions referred to the invitation for Kenan Pirić, who has not been standard in his club, to which Petev stated:

“He used play-minutes he got so far. He is a young and quality goalkeeper. He defended well against Italy. I believe that he is the future of this national team and he fits well into this team.

Media representatives were also interested in why there were no players from the m:tel BH Premier League on the list.

“I watched a lot of matches of the domestic competition, and I only didn’t watch Mladost and Široki Brijeg live. Until the gathering, two more rounds will be played, and if someone stands out, the door of the “A” national team would be opened to him”, says Petev.

In the end, the head coach answered the question how many points would satisfy him at the beginning of the qualification:

“Now, I am exclusively focused on the match with Finland, where we need to play smart. We have to have the right approach, play as well as possible and achieve a positive result. After that, we will think about other matches. I don’t like to calculate; I want us to play well and reach a positive result. The greatest strength of this team should be unity, and we will insist on that.”
