Project for improvement of floodlighting at the BH Telecom Premier League stadia in B&H

In August 2017, the FF BH launched the Project for the Improvement of Floodlighting at the BH Telecom Premier League Stadia in B&H.

The immediate reason was the urgent reconstruction of the floodlights at the Grbavica Stadium for the purpose of playing the qualifying match BH-Belgium. However, we in the FF BH have already considered using this to allow BH Telecom Premier League matches to be played at night, especially in the summer when conditions for daily matches at certain stadia become almost impossible. We felt that evening matches in the summer could certainly increase the attendance in the stadia and make influence to increase the viewership of Premier League matches.

The FF BH provided for the procurement and installation of floodlighting bodies, and we also did a photometric calculation for each stadium, and clubs and local communities needed to prepare the construction and installation of transformer stations, floodlights columns with foundations and the distribution of electrical installations.

For this project, the FF BH received support from the FIFA Forward Program in the amount of USD 1,330,000.00. We have entered into a contract with Philips for the procurement of a minimum of 950 ArenaVision MVF403 MHN SA 2000W/956 SI luminaires to be installed in selected stadia, i.e. those stadia that have received support from local communities and with which the FF BH has signed a contract on joint realization.

The deadline for the completion of the complete project is June 2020, and the Executive Board accordingly stipulated that floodlighting from the 2020/2021 season be a mandatory condition for playing matches at Premier League stadia.

The reconstruction of the existing floodlights at the stadiums “Pecara” in Široki Brijeg and “Bijeli Brijeg” in Mostar was completed this year. Preparations are underway for the erection of pillars and installations at the City Stadium in Bijeljina (assembly is planned in seven days). Negotiations with the City of Tuzla and FK Sloboda on the reconstruction of floodlights at the Tušanj Stadium are in the final stage. FK Velež signed a contract for the delivery of floodlights columns for the beginning of 2020, and the beginning of the work on the preparation of foundations for those floodlights columns is planned for the end of November.

The FF BH signed a project implementation agreement with the City of Prijedor and FK Rudar for the spring of next year, and according to the information we have received, the funds in the city budget for 2021 are currently planning.

The Kakanj Municipality and FK Mladost should sign an agreement on the implementation of this project with the FF BH by the end of the month, which will start in the spring of next year, as in the case of the City of Prijedor.

Applications of FK Borac from Banja Luka and FK Slavija from East Sarajevo are pending.

The dynamics of current activities and signed commitments by clubs and local communities guarantee that we will enter the 2020/2021 season with stadia that will have floodlights in accordance with the UEFA standards.
