Eight teams will compete in the country’s top women’s competition: Emina, Fortuna, Iskra, Leotar, Libero, Radnik BetOle, SFK 2000 Sarajevo, and Spartak 2013.
The reigning champions, SFK 2000 Sarajevo, were scheduled to play their opening-round match away in Banja Luka against Spartak 2013. However, due to the Bosnian champions’ participation in the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament, the match has been postponed.
On Saturday, August 30 at 16:00 in Priluk, Fortuna will face Leotar, while on Sunday, August 31 at 16:30 in Goražde, Libero will take on Emina.
The derby of the round will be played on August 31 at 17:00 at the “Jaklić” Stadium in Bugojno, where Iskra will meet Radnik BetOle.
Iskra Bugojno’s assistant coach, Asmer Mašić, said ahead of the game:
“We open the season this weekend with a derby against Radnik BetOle from Bijeljina. We know each other well as old rivals, and our matches have always been full of excitement and quality football, whether in Bugojno or Bijeljina. Our team has prepared well, and I believe we will show a good performance and open the championship with a victory.”
Iskra’s captain, Marina Lukić-Mustafica, added:
“I expect my teammates to deliver a strong performance, and the result will follow. I invite all supporters of our club to come to the Jaklić Stadium on Sunday to cheer us on so that together we can start the season with a win.”
Radnik BetOle head coach, Dragan Jevtić, is looking forward to a competitive encounter:
“We are entering the 13th season of the Women’s Premier League in this format, and our club is proud to have been part of all 13 seasons. We are ready for all the challenges the championship will bring. In the first round, we are away to Iskra, a stable Premier League side with a good mix of youth and experience. I expect an exciting and quality match in Bugojno and, of course, I believe we can start the season with a victory.”
Radnik BetOle player, Amina Mujanović, shared her thoughts:
“The new season begins with a match against Iskra, a team that deserves full respect. We know it will be a demanding game, but we believe in our work and the quality we possess. During preparations, we trained hard, raised our level of play, and now want to show that from the very start of the league. Our goal is to impose our style of play from the first minute and give our maximum on the pitch. The season will be long and challenging, but we believe Radnik can achieve good results and be competitive.”
The Iskra–Radnik match will be broadcast live on the official YouTube channel of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Football Federation (NS/FS BiH).
