The seminar was opened by the FF BH President, Elvedin Begić, who among other things pointed out that the Federation would follow the UEFA’s policy of zero tolerance for the use of pyrotechnic devices at the stadia.
Today were presented the problems which arise from the use of pyrotechnics that could endanger on the sports venues the health and even the lives of any participants of the event. The seminar also discussed the legal frameworks that regulated this issue, as well as the strategies and tactics of preventing the use of pyrotechnics.
The President of the UEFA Committee for Stadiums and Security, Michael Van Praag, says about this seminar:
“We would like to point out all the dangers that can be caused by the use of pyrotechnics, because the safe use of these devices on the stands is simply not possible. Also, there is no solution for punishing the whole sector for the use of pyrotechnics, but it is necessary to try to find individuals who are directly responsible for their use, and this can be done only in coordination with the police and other structures dealing with security issues.”
Van Praag also added:
“At this moment, fans may think that we want to take something from them, but we are trying to point out the dangers that pyrotechnics can cause in the stands, both for themselves and for those who surround them. Footballers, security guards, referees, everyone is at risk. If fans look at this way, we might have the opportunity to root out this problem and therefore we must constantly point out the dangers of using pyrotechnics.”
The seminar ends tomorrow.
