Followed by an initiative from seven football associations from Southeast Europe, a meeting was held today in Zagreb, Croatia, where the main topic was formation of a joint football league for younger boys and girls.
Croatian Football Federation (CFF) welcomed representatives from football asssociations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Hungary, Macedonia, Slovenia and Serbia, and during this constructive meeting they discussed the formation of a joint league which would be aimed at the development and acquisition of international experience for younger male and female football players.
Such competition has a great potential for development, because it would bring together seven countries, with about 30 million people in total. All representatives reached a preliminary agreement on several key parameters and needed steps, including the internal analysis of the potential proposals in each association, which would be discussed at a next meeting early next year.
Croatian Football Federation's technical director Romeo Jozak presented this project at the UEFA Expert Committee meeting few days ago, where UEFA gave a positive assessment of the situation.
FFBIH was represented today by competitions department director Elmir Pilav, and women's football coordinator Ivana Vlajic.
