The second leg of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Cup finals between Široki Brijeg and Sarajevo was played tonight at the stadium Pecara. The game ended with a result of 1-0 for Sarajevo, however because of the aggregate score of 1-1, the penalty shootout took place and decided the winner of this competition. The home team won 4-2 on penalties and earned their third BIH Cup title. The decisive goal was scored by Dejan Čabraja who brought great joy to their fans.
Široki Brijeg's coach Goran Sablić: "We have achieved our goal, we saved the season and qualified for the Europa League. Looking at how we got here, we deserved to win the trophy, but today we weren't up to the task. Sarajevo outplayed us and created a lot of problems. However, we played well this season and we're happy for the tonight's victory."
Attacker Ivan Krstanović: "The match was tough and the outcome was uncertain, just like seven days ago in Sarajevo. We played under a lot of pressure because this was our last chance to qualify for a European competition. In the end we succeeded and we're happy because of that."
Sarajevo's assistant coach Zijad Švrakić: "It's sad to lose this way. Missed opportunities cost us dearly. We made substitutions towards the end because we wanted fresh and precise players carrying out the penalty shots, but unfortunately two of them missed tonight. The opponent won the Cup for which I congratulate them."
After the match, FFBIH president Elvedin Begic, vice presidents Milorad Sofrenić and Ivan Beus, and general secretary Jasmin Bakovic awarded the winners with trophies and medals.
