Head coach Sergej Barbarez answered questions from reporters and opened the conference by addressing the team's injury situation: "Nidal Čelik injured his meniscus two days ago and will need surgery. Arjan Malić will replace him in the World Cup roster."
Speaking about the World Cup and the match against Canada, the head coach said: "I'm happy to be here and to be part of this story. This is the biggest game of my career. We're all ready and full of desire. Those are qualities that have always been with us. We're a small country, and this is only our second World Cup. We carry the label of a team that's rarely considered the favorite, but if you look at the qualifiers, you'll see that we outranked only two opponents. That says a lot about what we've achieved."
Among other things, Sergej Barbarez also stated: "The match will certainly be intense. We're playing the host nation in the opening game of the tournament, and of course we want to present ourselves in the best possible way. Our goal is to play well. We believe in ourselves and we'll do our best to advance to the next stage of the competition."
The Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina match will be played on June 12 at 15:00 local time (21:00 CET) at Toronto Stadium.
