Head coach Goran Melher and player Srđan Ivanković addressed journalists.
We Embrace the Favorite Role and Call for Fan Support
The Bosnia and Herzegovina national futsal team held media activities at the FFBiH Training Center in Zenica today ahead of their Euro 2026 qualifier against England.
Melher stated: "When we took over the team in April, we said we needed as many good practice games and friendlies as possible. We started with Morocco, followed by Azerbaijan, and those matches were very useful. The players have shown great effort, and if we replicate that against England, there won’t be any problems. Regarding tomorrow’s match, we embrace the role of favorites."
Regarding player availability, he added: "Captain Marijo Aladžić will miss the upcoming matches due to injury. Adnan Kalajdžić injured himself again, and Samir Gosto will sit out the England match due to a red card in the previous qualifiers."
On England and the qualifiers in general, Melher said: "England hasn’t had official matches in a while, so it wasn’t easy to gather information about them. However, we analyzed their players individually, and one of their key players will also be missing. Our aim is to qualify for a major tournament. Spain is in our group and has one of the world’s best teams, so they’re the favorites. Still, we aim to reach the Euro, either directly or through playoffs. We’ll give our best to make it happen."
Srđan Ivanković commented on recent injuries in the team: "Injuries are never good, especially when it’s experienced players like Aladžić or younger ones like Kalajdžić, who’s important for the team. I’m confident the collective effort will make up for their absences. We’ve worked hard during preparations, the atmosphere is great, and I’m sure we’ll achieve our goal tomorrow."
He also called for fan support: "I invite all futsal fans to come to Zenica in large numbers tomorrow and support us. It means a lot, and we’ll do our best to repay them on the court."
The Bosnia and Herzegovina vs. England match will be played tomorrow at 20:15 at the Husejin Smajlović sports arena in Zenica. Entry is free.
