Their route to Bosnia and Herzegovina was far from straightforward. Iceland finished third in its Round 1 group behind Denmark and Portugal, but responded impressively in Round 2 by topping Group A3 ahead of Denmark, Finland and Serbia.
The decisive moment came with a 3:2 victory over Denmark, followed by a convincing 3:0 win against Serbia. Those results secured first place in the group and qualification for the final tournament.
Forward Berglind Hlynsdóttir finished as Iceland’s top scorer in qualifying with three goals, while Ragnheiður Þórunn Jónsdóttir, Freyja Stefánsdóttir and Edith Kristín Kristjánsdóttir each added two. Iceland scored 12 goals across six qualifying matches and showed significant improvement as the campaign progressed.
Arriving in Bosnia and Herzegovina with confidence and momentum, Iceland will be aiming to make history by reaching the knockout stage of the UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship for the first time.
