This event represents a major milestone for football in our country: BiH will host a UEFA final tournament for the second time, after successfully organising the UEFA Women’s Under-17 European Championship in 2022 and receiving the highest evaluations for organisation and hospitality throughout the tournament.
In addition to our national team, seven teams that qualify through the qualification rounds in spring 2026 will take part in the final tournament.
For Bosnia and Herzegovina, this is another opportunity to demonstrate its ability to organise top-level international football events — with quality stadiums, solid infrastructure, and the welcoming spirit that characterises cities across the country.
What WU19 EURO Means for BiH and Football in the Country
Confirmation of the development of women’s and youth football — Hosting WU19 EURO 2026 shows that Bosnia and Herzegovina is continuously investing in women’s and youth sport, creating a competitive environment for young players.
Promotion of host cities and stadiums — The tournament will be held in cities and stadiums that are symbols of football tradition in BiH, which have already been presented: Sarajevo (Koševo and Grbavica) and Zenica (Bilino Polje and the NS/FSBiH Training Centre).
Experience in organising major tournaments — In 2022, BiH successfully organised EURO WU17; now this experience will be upgraded for a larger tournament, with even higher standards and additional operational challenges.
Boost to infrastructure and community engagement — Hosting such a competition brings further investment, community involvement, media attention, and an opportunity for the entire country to come together in support of young female footballers.
Why This Matters for BiH and the Fans
Hosting WU19 EURO 2026 in Bosnia and Herzegovina means much more than just a sporting event — it is an opportunity to demonstrate continuity in football development, openness towards Europe, and the ability to host major international events.
For the fans, it is a chance to support the national team, experience the excitement of a European football tournament in their own cities, and celebrate women’s football.
For young players — it is motivation to dream bigger and aim higher.
For the entire football community — it is a moment to mobilise, promote women’s sport, and contribute to the long-term growth of football values in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
